Royal Birkdale 2008 British Open

The Irish wre out in force as Paddy Harrington repeated his win of last year by 4 shots - it was well deserved as Greg Norman's challenge fell away in the winds of Southport.
The record crowds were again enthusiastic in the extreme and their loudness climaxed as the eagle went in on the 17th!
Good performances on the last day from David Howell, Casey and Ernie but disappointing from Goosen who threw a number of shots away by misjudgement of distance and poor putting - very unusual!
Thus a rare double for Harrington who secures a Ryder Cup place along with Stenson - much to Faldo's relief.
